Sarah Rauenhorst is a Reading Interventionist and Literacy Teacher Leader at Cole Arts and Science Academy, an innovation school in Denver Public Schools. In this position Rauenhorst provides reading support to accelerate the most struggling readers while observing, coaching, evaluating and supporting Kindergarten through 5th grade literacy teachers. As part of Cole’s leadership and instructional team, she determines needs and priorities of the school while also planning professional development and data analysis meetings for teachers. Rauenhorst is also in her second year as the Co-chair of the Cole Leadership Council, a body of administration, staff, faculty, parents and community members that guide the school. Before joining Cole Arts and Science Academy, Rauenhorst was an AmeriCorps VISTA at the University of Denver’s Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning. There, she worked to connect the University of Denver’s resources with Denver Public Schools through recruiting, training and supervising university students involved in community organizing. Rauenhorst received licensure through the Denver Teacher Residency, an alternative licensure program, a Masters in Education from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from University of Notre Dame.
