University of Great Falls

A Partnership with the Great Falls Childhood Coalition
The partnership was designed to bring national expertise and training in early childhood development to rural locations. The University of Great Falls (UG) is the sole provider of training for early childhood development providers in Great Falls, and the Great Falls Early Childhood Coalition (GFECC) is comprised of thirty-three education, social service, welfare, medical services and family service programs in Great Falls. This collaboration helps integrate the highest quality training with the best possible delivery of programs and services to children.

The two have worked in collaboration to bring the nationally known CSEFEL training, supporting the effective social and emotional growth of children, to Great Falls with the goal of providing training for all childcare and preschool programs in the community. The partnership also developed a project with Great Falls Public Schools to create the Early Learning Family Center. This collaboration has created a service system in one Great Falls, Montana location designed to meet the needs of all local children from birth to age six.

About the Partners
UGF is a Catholic residential, liberal arts university with a commitment to transforming students lives and helping students succeed. UGF was founded in 1932 by the Sisters of Providence with a mission to prepare students for living and making a living and a commitment to service as part of its Catholic heritage. UGF recently created a nine-month certificate program to train individuals working in child care programs to meet national standards as a Child Development Associate (CDA).

GFECC was established in 2003 as a group of individuals and organizations, committing their talent and expertise to a common goal to develop and implement a seamless service system in one Great Falls location that is “all inclusive” to meet the needs of the community’s children from birth to eight years.
