Mercedes serves as the Program Officer at Better Way Foundation, managing partnerships, evaluation and learning projects. She started at the foundation in 2014 and has more than 10-years of experience working in the philanthropy and nonprofit fields. She completed her Masters Degree in Leadership and Nonprofit Management at the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.
Prior to joining Better Way, Mercedes worked in Uijeongbu, South Korea developing curriculum, supporting organizational administration and teaching at the Sogang Language Program. Plendl earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in German and Theater Arts from the University of Minnesota, during which time she worked and studied abroad in London and Berlin.
Mercedes serves on the Board of Directors for RECLAIM! and Dangerous Productions Theater Company, working to improve the lives of young people in the Twin Cities. Mercedes and her wife live in Minneapolis and enjoy bike riding, trying new restaurants and spending time with family and friends.
